Within the tumor there are individual scattered cells with distinct cell borders and abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm. The tumor nuclei are round to oval, have mainly vesicular chromatin, show prominent nucleoli, and have occasional nuclear inclusions. The nature of these cells are uncertain. Mitotic figures are found infrequently, occurring less than 1/HPF.
