Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (MENINGIOMA) | Meningioma - Clear cell | 18A1 (Case 18) H&E 10X
Case 18 History ---- The patient was a 43 year old man with a cervical spine intradural, extramedullary tumor. Operative procedure: Posterior cervical laminectomy at C3-4 and resection of spinal cord tumor. ---- 18A1-3 The neoplasm is composed of nests of syncytial cells which have round to oval mildly hyperchromatic nuclei with small or inconspicuous nucleoli. There are some regions on H&E stain which show pallor of the cytoplasm consistent with clear cell change. These regions also tend to have a sheeted growth pattern. Mitotic figures are difficult to find and necrosis is not seen. Several tiny foci of small cell change are seen. Frequent hyalinized vessels are scattered throughout the tumor.
