18E2 (Case 18) PAS With D 20X
Diastase removes glycogen staining generally in tumor cells with particular loss in islands of prior staining, consistent with clear cell change. ---- This neoplasm is clearly meningothelial in origin, however it is somewhat difficult to grade. It has several features that are associated with more aggressive behavior including focal areas of sheeting, patchy small cell change as well as the presence of clear cell features. These findings, along with focal areas of moderate proliferative activity on the MIB-1 stain, probably merit a diagnosis of atypical meningioma with patchy clear cell change, WHO Grade 2.
