The patient was a 64 year old woman with a right petroclival tumor. Clinical diagnosis: Rule out meningioma or schwannoma. Operative procedure: Craniotomy with tumor resection. ---- 20A1,2 This is a meningothelial neoplasm composed of cells arranged in small whorls and larger lobules separated by shreds of short, dense collagen fibers. The individual neoplastic cells have oval to elongated nuclei with indistinct or single nucleolus and moderate amounts of clear cytoplasm in more than 50% of the tumor. The clear cytoplasm of tumor cells contain PAS-positive granules which are diastase-sensitive, consistent with glycogen deposition. Mitoses are rare. No necrosis is identified.
