23A1 Clear cell meningioma (Case 23) H&E 4X
Case 23 History ---- The patient is a 39 year old woman with a 6 month history of headaches. Imaging studies revealed a well circumscribed, homogenously enhancing dural mass over the left convexity. ---- 23A1-4 This is a hypercellular and hypervascular dural-based neoplasm with variable morphologic features. In most areas, the tumor cells are arranged in sheets and display moderate sized cells with round to oval nuclei, macronucleoli, and variable quantities of clear to eosinophilic cytoplasm. Whorls and psammoma bodies are identified focally. Many of the intratumoral blood vessels are markedly hyalinized. There are scattered mitotic figures, but no definite evidence of spontaneous necrosis or small cell formation.
