Case 5 History ---- The patient was a 59 year old man who presented with headaches, gait disturbance, cranial nerve palsies, and deafness. Imaging studies revealed a large posterior fossa skull base mass. ---- 5A1-5 This is a moderately cellular, relatively solid-appearing neoplasm composed predominantly of sheets of tumor cells with abundant clear cytoplasm. There are dense deposits of collagen in the perivascular spaces and interstitium. Focally, there is a vague pattern of whorling and occasional cells show eosinophilic cytoplasm and cytologic features suggesting meningothelial derivation as well as a few rhabdoid appearing cells. Mitotic figures are hard to find and there is no evidence of frank anaplasia, macronucleoli, small cell formation, necrosis, or brain invasion.
