The inferior aspect of the brain shows a fleshy friable neoplasm which occupies much of the ventral areas around the brainstem and hypothalamus and median eminence, optic nerves and olfactory tracts. The left internal carotid appears enmeshed in the infiltrate as well as multiple cranial nerves to the level of the 8th nerve.
