13B4 Meningioma, Anaplastic (Case 13) H&E N3 20X
There is widespread dissemination of the sarcoma throughout the subarachnoid space. Areas show tumor infiltration along the Virchow-Robin spaces at all levels of the neuraxis and, in areas, frank neuroaxial invasion. There is a variable degree of glial parenchymal reaction ranging from mild subpial astrocytosis to an exuberant proliferation of fibrillary astrocytes, most pronounced in the areas with severe sarcomatous invasion. ---- The histologic appearance of this case is that of anaplastic meningioma, WHO Grade III.
