Case 14 History ---- This patient was a member of a large kindred with familial adult-onset neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis. This patient had a 15 year course of gradual cognitive and functional deterioration that was initiated by new-onset generalized tonic-clonic seizures; she also developed extrapyramidal dysfunction, myoclonus, and psychosis. The immediate clinical cause of death was bronchopneumonia. ---- At autopsy the fresh brain weighed 1,050g. ---- 14A1-3 Case 14 History ---- This patient was a member of a large kindred with familial adult-onset neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (Kuf’s disease, J. Neurol. Sci. 2001; 188: 51-60). This patient had a 15 year course of gradual cognitive and functional deterioration that was initiated by new-onset generalized tonic-clonic seizures; she also developed extrapyramidal dysfunction, myoclonus, and psychosis. The immediate clinical cause of death was bronchopneumonia. ---- 14A1-3 A pink, soft mass (7 X 6 X 6 cm) with foci of hemorrhage and necrosis was adherent to the dura mater.
