27A2 Meningioma (Case 27) 17
A dural spinal cord mass populated by spindled cells arranged in fascicles and whorls. The cells have a moderate amount of eosinophilic cytoplasm, oval-to-spindled nuclei, speckled chromatin, distinct nuclear envelopes and occasional intranuclear pseudoinclusions. Mitotic figures are rare (<1/10HPF). Scattered psammoma bodies are present. There is no evidence of loss of architecture (‘sheeting’), ‘small cell change,’ necrosis, or invasion of CNS tissue. This histological pattern is that of a meningioma, WHO grade I.
