Case 40 History ---- The patient was a 50 year old female with a history of poorly-controlled type I diabetes who presented to the hospital after a fall. Her past medical history is significant for type 1 diabetes, hypertension, and chronic renal insufficiency. During physical therapy she was short of breath and then was unresponsive. Following cardiac arrest she remained unresponsive and, after several days, care was withdrawn. ---- 40A Autopsy findings included the weight of the fixed brain is 1210g. There was a 1.0 cm in greatest dimension tan, soft dural-based nodule on the anterior portion of the falx. Sections of the dura reveals a small meningioma characterized by spindled tumor cells arranged in bundles and some whorling growth patterns without significant mitotic activity.
