Case 58 History ---- The patient was an 84 year old woman with a past medical history of hypertension, end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis, hyperlipidemia, and anemia who presented with a left superior and inferior rami fracture. By report she fell out of her bed 4 days prior to her admission. The patient was evaluated by the Orthopedics Department and the plan was for conservative management without surgery. Shortly thereafter she was found to be in pulseless electrical activity arrest and she was transferred to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The patient again went into cardiac arrest in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and was resuscitated but the decision was made not to escalate care further. The patient coded a third time and was not resuscitated. ---- At autopsy the fresh brain weight was 1150g. ---- A suprasellar mass was found between the internal carotids at the base of the skull.
