8A1 Meningioma (Case 8) 6
Case 8 History ---- This was a 61 year old woman with past medical history of hypertension, coronary artery disease, S/P myocardial infarction (MI) in 1997, and severe peripheral vascular disease. She developed a new non-Q-wave MI and underwent a 3 vessel CABG on 10/23 subsequently developing a coagulopathy and thrombocytopenia followed by bilateral lower extremity weakness, mottled skin and loss of pulses treated by bypasses without success. Post surgery she experienced severe quadriparesis including severe ophthalmoplegia. She subsequently developed narrow complex tachycardia (190's) with hypotension (SBP 80's), which could not be corrected and resulted in death. ---- At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1140 gm. ---- 8A1,2 In the dura covering the left parietal-occipital lobe, a 2.8 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm parasagittal meningioma was found adherent to the overlying dura resulting a focal defect in the left parietal-occipital lobe.
