Case 23 History ---- The patient was a 15 year old girl with neurofibromatosis type II, who is status post repeat craniotomy for an anaplastic meningioma arising from an atypical meningioma. Operative procedure: Craniotomy with multiple bony resections. ---- 23A Sections of the adjacent orbital lesion show an atypical meningioma (WHO grade II) composed predominantly of transitional and meningothelial patterns. Sections of the superolateral orbital wall show extraosseous and extensive marrow infiltration with atypical meningioma with focal rhabdoid features. Within the transitional areas are atypical features including foci of sheeting and a focus of necrosis. No significant mitotic activity is noted in any of the extensively sectioned material. Groups of rhabdoid cells are present in multiple sections and constitute approximately 10-20% of sampled material.
