Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (MENINGIOMA) | Transitional | 9A3 Meningioma (WHO-II, Case 9) H&E 12
Additional tumor cell image. (H&E) ---- Not shown: There are tongues of meningioma that are completely surrounded by gliotic neural tissue, an impression which is confirmed by a GFAP immunostain. Tumor cell nuclei are diffusely and strongly PR positive. A Ki-67 immunostain demonstrates a proliferation index of 2.6%. In this case, the presence of brain invasion warrants the diagnosis of meningioma, WHO grade II. FISH analysis shows loss of 14q and 22q.
