16B1 Chondrosarcoma, low grade (looks like chordoma, Case 16) H&E 2
16B1-4 Histological sections of the neurosurgical specimen show several small fragments of a myxoid neoplasm with poorly-defined lobular architecture. Appearing singly and in cords within a pale blue myxoid matrix, the tumor cells have one or, occasionally, two round-to-oval nuclei and a modest epithelioid cell body with coarse eosinophilic, irregularly-cleared cytoplasm. In some areas, the tumor cells have less cytoplasm and are clustered more closely, with little or no intervening matrix. No 'physaliphorous' cells with bubbly cytoplasm are present. Mitotic figures are not seen.
