Case 9 History ---- The patient is a 14 year old girl with a paternal family history of von Hippel-Lindau disease previously without stigmata of the disease but recently diagnosed with hearing loss. Her past medical history also includes seizures as a young child that were controlled medically. MRI of the internal auditory canals showed a right sided cerebellar hemispheric cystic intra-axial mass with an enhancing 8mm mural nodule consistent with a hemangioblastoma. MRI of the spine also showed cystic lesions of the pancreas. Operative procedure: Posterior fossa craniotomy for resection of right cerebellar tumor. ---- 9A1-3 MRI sections ---- 9A1 This FLAIR exam identifies a hyperintense rim and stains the mural nodule.
