17A1 Solitary Fibrous Tumor (SFT, Case 17) T1 2 - Copy
Case 17 History ---- The patient was a 22 year old woman with a 2 month history of numbness in her hands bilaterally. The numbness increased when lying down. She also has pain in her right shoulder. She saw a chiropractor who performed cervical manipulation that did not help the symptoms. She was involved in a motor vehicle accident several months prior to her current presentation with possible symptom exacerbation. Physical exam showed paresthesias as well as subtle motor difficulties in her hand. ---- 17A1,2 T1-weighted MRI without (17A1) and with contrast (17A2) shows a solid enhancing mass in the left paraspinal tissue with extension through the C1-C2 foramen into the extradural space with marked cord compression. The clinical differential diagnoses included schwannoma and meningioma. Operative procedure: Tumor resection.
