9J1-3 Thoracic metastasis (2016) shows an encapsulated tumor with gaping (but no staghorn) vessels. In contrast to the fascicular/storiform architecture of the primary tumor, the metastatic tumor cells appear as hypercellular patternless sheets. Overall the cytologic features between the two tumors are very similar, although the chromatin appears more open in the metastasis. Mitoses are seen <5/10HPF in the spinal metastasis.
