There is strong staining of hypoglossal neurons with TDP43. ---- Not shown: Bunina bodies, hyaline, or Lewy-body like inclusions were not seen in the motor cortex and there is no apparent astrocytosis or neuronal dropout. A TDP43 immunostain was performed on the frontal and mesial temporal cortices without demonstration of inclusions. ---- Neuro Final Diagnosis: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; Right frontal lobe contusion (remote) with associated (resolved) subarachnoid and (resolving) subdural hemorrhage (clinical history of head trauma)
