The gross specimen of the cervical spinal cord shows marked atrophy of the ventral horn and a substantive change in the contours of the cervical cord resulting from the marked loss of the lateral corticospinal tracts. This configuration was most prominent in the cervical cord and was less accentuated in the lumbar and sacral cord.
