2G1,2 Sections of the precentral gyrus do not show neuron loss or astrocytosis. An antibody to TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP43) highlights scattered skein-like inclusions in cortical neurons and some dot-like inclusions within the cytoplasm of rare, scattered oligodendrocytes in the precentral gyrus. Multiple sections of frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital neocortices as well as the hippocampus show a relatively well maintained complement of neurons. Bunina bodies, hyaline, or Lewy-body like inclusions were not seen in any cortical site. (TDP43 IHC)
