An antibody to TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP43) highlights scattered skein-like inclusions in cortical neurons and some dot-like inclusions within the cytoplasm of rare, scattered oligodendrocytes in the precentral gyrus. ---- Not shown: Bielschowsky stained material does not show senile plaques or tangles in precentral gyrus. The hippocampus, however, shows scattered diffuse senile plaques but no evidence of neurofibrillary tangles. The hypoglossal nucleus appears to have a sparse representation of motor neurons but the sections did not show the location of the hypoglossal nuclei well.
