The precentral gyrus in this case is shown at progressively increasing magnification validating the presence of neuron loss, particular its large neurons, with pallor and astrocytosis. Both the right and left precentral gyri show striking pancortical loss of neurons with marked astrocytic gliosis, reactive small vessel proliferation and rod-shaped microglial proliferation.
