Case 6 History ---- The patient was an 85yo female who was cognitively normal in a battery of tests performed at every ADRC visit (8 total). ---- The unfixed, fresh brain weighed 1270g. There was mild atrophy of the frontal, temporal, and parietal lobes. Coronal slicing of the formalin-fixed left hemibrain revealed no significant dilatation of the lateral ventricle or rounding of the angle. The hippocampal neuron numbers were relatively well preserved. Ammon’s horn is free of beta-amyloid plaques but there are frequent neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). She received diagnoses of Alzheimer Disease Neuropathologic change (ADNC low: A1B2C0)
