There is severe atrophy of the frontal, temporal, and parietal lobes, but the occipital lobe was mildly affected and the sensorimotor cortex was relatively better preserved. Notice that the degree of atrophy is much better appreciated once the leptomeninges are removed (2A1 vs 2A2).
