3A2-4 Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal cortical atrophy that is especially apparent in the temporal lobes. The hippocampi and amygdalae are markedly atrophic. The subcortical white matter shows mild atrophy. The ventricular system is lined by smooth, glistening ependyma and is dilated throughout, with marked blunting of the angles and expansion of the lateral horns.
