Case 2 History ---- The patient was a 71 year old woman with a past medical history significant for a hereditary vascular disorder, Alzheimer’s dementia, coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, a gait disorder, depression, obstructive sleep apnea, diverticulitis, rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, vulvar cancer, bilateral knee replacements, car accident in 2008 (with reported concussion but not severe injury) and hysterectomy. The patient’s Alzheimer dementia, diagnosed in 2005, was considered to be of a progressive nature and was severe enough for placement in a nursing home and resulted in her death in 2012.
