3E3,4 Some neuritic plaques show individual dystrophic neurites which are not PHF immunoreactive (arrow, 3E4) and are not amyloid. It has been reported that some neurites may contain increased amounts of lysosome-related dense bodies, but no PHFs, and immunostain for chromogranin A and ubiquitin, but not tau protein.
