Neuro Final Diagnosis: Frontotemporal dementia with nonspecific histopathology ---- Neuro Diagnosis Comment: This old case is remarkable for its advanced pathologic severity, yet lack of any diagnostic histologic features. The combination of progressive dementia associated with atrophy, neuronal loss, astrocytosis, vacuolation of cortical layer 2, and the absence of neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles is consistent with the entity known as “frontotemporal dementia with nonspecific histopathology”.
