1B6-9 The inclusions are rounded and globular and occupy the cytoplasm of astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Although most of the inclusions are globoid, they vary in size and shape across the spectrum. They do not have the distinctive appearance of oligodendroglial inclusions in multiple system atrophy in H&E stained material, immunohistochemical studies make short work of distinguishing the two entities.
