Showing the junction of devastated and normal proximal part of CA1. ---- Not shown: There is modest neuronal loss and gliosis involving sections of neocortex. No diffuse beta-amyloid plaques and no neuritic plaques were seen; a few tau-immunoreactive neurons, indicating a pre-tangle stage, are noted. No alpha-synuclein positive inclusions (Lewy bodies) and no TDP-43-immunoreactive neuronal cytoplasmic inclusions are present in the neocortex.
