15B1,2 The frontal lobes showed mild neuronal loss and gliosis throughout the neocortex. No beta-amyloid plaques and no argyrophilic neuritic plaques or neurofibrillary tangles were present. No tau or alpha-synuclein pathology was present. Polyglutamine (1C2) immunohistochemistry (not shown) revealed numerous neuronal intranuclear inclusions and sparse dystrophic neurites. 1C2-immunoreactivity was also seen in granules within the cytoplasm of some neurons.
