9A2,3 Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal slightly atrophic cortical ribbons. The caudate and putamen are markedly decreased in size. The underlying white matter and thalamus are unremarkable. The ventricular system is markedly dilated and is lined by smooth, glistening ependyma.
