This image of the superior frontal gyrus has been stained with LFB-PAS, a stain typically used for myelin, and shows numerous large dystrophic swellings (arrowheads) and scattered residual neurons (arrows). The dark blue color of the spheroids reflects staining properties of membranous tubulovesicular aggregates. (LFB-PAS)
