1H2,3 A very popular distal site to demonstrate spheroids are distal portions of nerves especially those involving the innervation of muscle spindles within distal muscles. Note in this case the neurogenic pattern of muscle fiber atrophy. It may be difficult in H&E to discern dystrophic axons (arrow, 1H3) from spindle muscle elements (arrowhead), although the latter are typical more eosinophilic and granular. (H&E)
