2E1-4 Sections through various brainstem regions showed scattered spheroids in all sites, specifically involving the medullary gracile nuclei (2E1), pontine nuclei (2E2,3), and oculomotor nerve nuclei (2E4) the substantia nigra, the reticular formation, and inferior olivary nuclei. The pyramidal tracts in the brainstem and spinal cord were depopulated of axons; few spheroids could be demonstrated. (H&E)
