The brainstem has been sectioned to show pallor of the midbrain substantia nigra and pontine locus ceruleus. ---- Final Neuropathologic Diagnoses: No AD by any criteria (amyloid-beta entirely absent); Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), neocortical, limbic and brainstem Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites. ---- This case is an excellent example of pure DLB with no hint of AD except for medial temporal tangles in an aging-associated distribution.
