At autopsy, the weight of the unfixed brain was 1500g. There is mild generalized atrophy with slight widening of the sulci. Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal a normal cortical ribbon, underlying white matter, basal ganglia, and thalamus. The ventricular system shows modest dilatation with blunting of the angles of the lateral ventricles.
