3A0 Case 3 History
Case 3 History ---- The patient was a 79yo female with a past medical history of cardiac surgery, hip replacement, mastectomy, stroke in 1998 and dysphasia, with EPS/dementia for past 7 years. She was diagnosed with stage 5 parkinsonism with early prominent dementia. Symptoms included stiffness, falls, poor balance, freezing, soft/slurred speech, swallowing difficulties, progressive memory loss, complex hallucinations (involving people, animals, and cars) for the last several years. The initial benefit of Sinemet was noted. Her family history was significant for a mother and sister who developed Alzheimer's disease in their 80s. She was in her usual state of health at nursing home but in October 2002, she was found without respirations and was pronounced dead.
