Coronal sections of the cerebral hemisphere revealed marked cortical atrophy, particularly involving the temporal lobe, amygdala and hippocampi. Bilateral hippocampi were atrophic. The ventricular system was dilated with blunting of the angles. The substantia nigra and locus ceruleus were pale.
