Case 10 History ---- The patient was a 67yo male with a history of progressive Parkinsonism. His symptoms were first noted in 1988 (at age 58) and progressed to difficulty with ambulation, hoarseness, and dysphagia, first for water then solids. For the past year he had difficulty performing activities of daily living. He had been treated with Sinemet and later Demex with no relief. The patient had no history of encephalitis, head trauma, taking relevant medications, or being exposed to environmental toxins. Physical exam during a 4/97 office visit was remarkable for rigidity, significant gait impediment, bradykinesia, and a 4 Herz resting tremor. The patient passed away in July 1997.
