At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1509g. There was mild generalized edema with mild flattening of the sulci and narrowing of the gyri in a diffuse pattern. Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal a normal cortical ribbon, underlying white matter, basal ganglia (questionably discolored or artifact), and thalamus. The ventricular system shows mild dilatation and blunting of its angles.
