Gross Pathology: At autopsy, the fresh brain weighed 1420g. There was no apparent atrophy of the cerebral hemispheres or ventricular dilatation. The brainstem appeared small and there was some cerebellar atrophy. The substantia nigra and locus coeruleus were markedly depigmented. ---- 3A1,2 The pontine white matter tracts show numerous GCI.
