A more caudal view of a coronal section at the level of the mammillary bodies. The presence of the right putaminal hemorrhage initially confused the interpretation of the pigment in the right globus pallidus as the residua of nearby hemorrhage. Sampling of the left globus pallidus made it clear that another explanation was needed as were findings involving the bilateral substantia nigra which was inconsistent with causation by right putaminal hemorrhage.
