6A1,2 Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal a normal cortical ribbon and underlying white matter. Two small (<5 mm) cavities are seen in the left putamen at the level of the anterior commissure and the right globus pallidum at the level of the mamillary bodies. There is dark tan discoloration of the globus pallidum bilaterally. ---- The substantia nigra and locus ceruleus were normally pigmented.
