7A1,2 On multiple coronal sections, the cortex appeared as a uniform well demarcated ribbon of tissue of normal thickness . The diencephalic structures were remarkable for the presence of a rusty discoloration of the globus pallidus, primarily in its medial and anterior aspects, but involving the entire limits of this structure. A similar rusty discoloration was not noted in the substantia nigra. However, in this latter structure, there appeared to be a mild amount of uniform depigmentation.
