2A0 Case 2 History
Case 2 History (CANP 2007 Case 9; Contributor: Krawitz I) This 61 year old man had a disability pension and his financial affairs were managed by a Public Trustee. His history is sketchy. According to numerous remote psychiatric and psychologic assessments, he had borderline mental retardation. Details of a possible neurologic disorder in infancy are not known. Right hemiparesis was documented. No seizures were reported and no records of brain imaging are available. In recent years he suffered from hypertension, obesity and chronic lower limb venous insufficiency ulcerations. On the day of his death he complained of chest pain and shortness of breath. The cause of death was pulmonary thromboembolism. ---- At autopsy, there was cerebral hemispheric asymmetry with a smaller atrophic left than right cerebral hemisphere.
