At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1100g. The sulcal-gyral pattern was mildly atrophic. Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal a normal cortical ribbon, underlying white matter and thalamus. The globus pallidus appeared atrophic and discolored. The ventricular system showed mild blunting of the angles of the lateral ventricles with mild dilation.
