A Bielschowsky stain demonstrate the marked loss of axons throughout the caudate, putamen and globus pallidus, consistent with the above H&E findings. Connection of axons with granular spheroids were not found. ---- There was no histochemical evidence of any copper deposition throughout the entire corpus striatum.
